Square Wheels Touring
The Square Wheels touring group are a small group dedicated to traditional cycle touring in the Armagh, Moy, Dungannon area. On most Sunday mornings we leave the square in Moy at 9.15 for a most pleasant, easy going tour. Anyone is welcome to join us and as the pace is relatively slow a high level of fitness is not necessary. Our aim is to explore our wonderful countryside, and this means sometimes going off the beaten track on to forest paths and small laneways. Our runs are not about average speed or counting miles, rather we savour the quality of the journey, the places we visit and the people we meet along the way.
We could be regarded as the cyclists version of the hillwalking clubs. With a route leader for the day, and carrying saddlebags instead of rucksacks, we might not make it back until later in the afternoon. For comfort and convenience we encourage use of mudguards to help keep everyone dry, and as the walkers do on the hills, we carry lunch and equipment for a brew up in some carefully selected outdoor spot along the route.
Normally, we cover about 40-50 miles. The speed is slow and will suit all ages and both sexes.
