A quick update for those interested in a busy weekend's open racing for some of our members.
Saturday saw Emmet, Gareth, Doc and John head over to the Loup for a race along very lumpy and muddy roads. All four lads got round well in the bunch in their and came in looking like they'd just been in the trenches ! think Paris Roubaix with a trailer load of cow dung thrown in. No surprises that Farmer Milllar would love the conditions best and he was again in the points with a great 7th place and 2 more points !
Sunday saw Emmet have a well deserved Sunday morning lie in and it was left to 4 club A4s to fly the club flag locally at the Island Wheelers PJ Logan Cup over a very undulating Bush circuit. Gareth rode a great race and finished a career best 4th to earn enough points cumulatively to become the club's 3rd A3 racer joining Conan and Emmet in making the big jump ! Gareth has had three point scoring races in 2 weeks and shown fantastic form in three races he figured would suit his climbing style ! well done Gareth and hopefully this latest promotion will motivate a few others in the club to step up to join the three remaining A4s. Gareth rode lots of races last year and managed 1 point, but learned a lot and this season after an injury has raced consistently at the front .... we wish him well in A3.
Shane was second clubman home ahead of Doc both emptying the tanks to keep touch with the pack over the hilly finish ! well done lads. John had a mechanical on lap 2 which ended his race but at least he was at the finish to roar Gareth over the line.
